Canine & Feline Physical Rehabilitation

We can’t wait for you to experience the difference at Oak Hill Veterinary Care & Pet Resort!

At Oak Hill Veterinary Care & Pet Resort, the goal of our rehabilitation department is to improve the health, mobility, and quality of life of pets recovering from injury or surgery and pets with chronic conditions like arthritis, neurological disorders, and obesity. At Oak Hill, these services include manual therapy, tailored exercise programs, and laser therapy.

What to Expect with Pet Care Rehabilitation at Oak Hill Veterinary Care & Pet Resort

At Oak Hill, our rehabilitation starts with a 60-minute evaluation with Dr. Maxham, a licensed rehab therapist, in Oak Hill’s new rehab room. Pet owners can schedule these evaluations without a referral or you can be referred by your primary vet. After the initial evaluation, Dr. Maxham will create an individualized treatment plan that addresses your pet’s specific needs. These plans usually include both in-clinic therapy and exercises that you can do with your pet at home. Rehab is a collaborative effort–you and your primary vet are part of your pet’s rehabilitation team, and we will keep your primary vet up to date on your pet’s progress.

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy is a hands-on treatment that includes techniques such as massage, joint mobilization, and stretching, all performed by our skilled vets. During sessions, the focus is on relieving tension, improving joint mobility, and enhancing blood flow. This therapy is particularly beneficial for reducing pain, increasing flexibility, and accelerating recovery from injuries or surgeries, helping your pet feel more comfortable and regain mobility.

Tailored Exercise Programs

Our Tailored Exercise Programs are individualized plans designed to meet your pet’s unique needs, whether for strengthening, conditioning, or improving balance. These guided sessions often incorporate tools like treadmills or agility equipment to provide targeted and effective exercises. By strengthening muscles, improving endurance, and supporting joint health, these programs play a crucial role in enhancing mobility and promoting long-term physical well-being for your pet.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses therapeutic lasers to target specific areas, reducing inflammation and stimulating healing at a cellular level. During these painless sessions, a laser device is applied to the affected areas for a few minutes, promoting faster tissue regeneration and alleviating discomfort. This advanced therapy effectively reduces swelling, relieves pain, and supports quicker recovery, making it an excellent option for enhancing your pet’s overall well-being.
